Day #14--Leaving the Inn for lack of a better title--miles hiked: 8.1

This morning, we enjoyed a lovely Irish breakfast at the Inn and then journeyed back into Rutland for the most excellent medical care I've ever experienced...add my local doctors office to the list of things this hike has made me grateful for.
After the walk-in clinic escapade, we hitched back to the trail without even trying! This nice old man just pulled over and took us back to the trail while we were waiting for the bus.
We only walked 8-9 miles today, but it seemed like 15 after a mountain that felt like a treadmill stuck at a 75 degree angle. However, before the climb we enjoyed some brand new board walks over a Vermont bog.

We decided to stop walking pretty early as clouds heavy with rain loomed in the distance and enjoyed some reading time and a new friend from California--we love you Jacob!
Our first 20+ mile day is tomorrow!
