Day #15, And miles to go before we sleep--miles hiked: 21.5

Today we woke up at 530 with the birds, packed up, and set off on the longest day hiking day of my life. The elevation on the map looked reasonable (no climbing above 4000 ft), but we certainly failed to note the fact that the trail looked a bit like a roller coaster. We counted 15 mountains that we went right over the top of...that's 15 treadmills-stuck-on-a-75-degree-angle. However tired the day's walk made us, there were a few treats along the way.
First of all, we came across a cabin someone built on top of a mountain called the lookout. It had a really big ladder with a viewing deck on the roof.
After 6-7 more miles and 6-7 more mountains, we descended through a lovely field (like the Sound of Music) and came across a family farm store with ice cream! 'Twas a wonderful break at mile 13.

After ice cream, the mountains and the fields continued--I personally prefer the fields...they're gorgeous!
We stayed at Thistle Hill shelter and met Big Hungry (the small dog) and her owner, Pack.
Hurting feet, but happy trails!
